Are you sure your members are allowed to go out playing on their own? Sounds fishy to me!
I’m guessing Anonymous above that you have had bitter personal experience of another iow brass band where no players are allowed to play else where? At Vectis we positively encourage inter band playing and membership. It is in the player’s best interests to learn from as many musical experiences as possible. I do hope you have moved away from said organisation and found the freedom to join the wider IOW banding community. …if not blogging here may be the first step towards that freedom. Best of luck anyway x
