MD's REPORT

It goes without saying that I was delighted last year when we won best training, youth and over all band but I was just blown away with our achievement on Saturday. We had such a young band on stage that I was a little worried that I had asked too much too soon. My concerns were misplaced as our 2nd place proves. Jay was excellent as MD for the first item. His beat was clear and his leadership and control of the band was noted by the adjudicator. Henry shone in 'Perfect Day' on kit. His steady rhythm and easy style supported the bands mature sound. Mr Sandman had great accents with pleasing trom glisses well done Hanna for your solo and good solid drumming form Andrew too. Eventide was tidy on both verses of the hymn. Couple of tuning blips but these were very small and corrected very soon. Well done David Littleton for solo on 2nd verse. Our finale '42nd' was well established by solid cornet opening. We wobbled a little in tempo but settled by bar 8. Great solo from Dom on solo horn and a neat end wrapped up a good performance. Fab start to our 65th year x
