We all got up at stupid o'clock and stumbled onto the 7.30am Yarmouth Ferry to make our way over to the Wessex Youth Band Championships. The band not only behaved very well but the playing was excellent. There were over 9 performances between the Training and Youth sections ( some 150+ kids) and we were awarded runners up in the training and 3rd in the youth bringing back the 1933 Grading Cup and the Silver Challenge Cup.
The adjudicator was Lieutenant Colonel Chris Davis OBE BA(Hons) MMus DMA LRAM RM
Commandant RMSM / Principal Director of Music Royal Marines gave very favourable comments and feed back ( to be posted here soon) The HM Royal Marines sponsored the whole event and the adjudicator gave his services freely, good on 'em. The whole day was rounded off with an excellent mini concert by the RM Brass Ensemble, who were outstanding.

I don't like to single out anyone as it was a real team effort 2day but I did wish to flag up Sarah j performance ( who sadly had to play on her own as Robert was unwell) Tom Seal whose solo was fabulous, Daniel C's 1st class euph and waving elbow, Ollie's tight snare (oooh), Alex's pleasing baritone playing, the tenor horn girls, Rep & Flug Jessica and Daniel S, Arthur on bass trom, Carrie Anne for her hymn playing, Michael G for his solo item in "little suite", the troms who were bold and brassy and all the "first" timers who were very professional and competent and didn't let the day faze them at all. I wish to also thanks the adult helpers : Elling, Peter, Juliette, Sam H and Chris. It made all the difference having you with us :-) We all had a great day and enjoyed the experience. Lots of very positive comments from audience too and rather pleasingly, many other bands. Well done guys you did yourselves and the IOW proud. Thank you x Can you e mail me any pictures you may have taken please?
